TELUGU JAADALU by R.M. Umamaheshwara Rao | Book Discussion

Open discussion on the recently published book 'Telugu Jaadalu', by the well-known Telugu writer R.M. Umamaheshwara Rao.

Based on the travels of the author alongwith two close friends, the book offers a moving portrayal, of the Telugus living and surviving in many lands far off from the two Telugu states, their distinct histories, and their struggle to hold on to their linguistic identity and cultural memory against severe odds. For most mainland Telugus, these stories would come as a shock as well as a pleasant surprise about the enterprising spirit of the Telugus through the ages in seeking better fortunes in distant lands. The book also raises a stirring call to the mainland Telugus to connect with the lost brethren and help revive and fortify their linguistic and cultural identity.
